Really? I question this, due to the fact that there are always, ALWAYS petitions, always LAWYERS, and always ADVOCACY GROUPS. These dogs are not immediately euthanized at the owners request, 10 day quarantine if it is not a pit bull type dog, evaluated for temperament, court dates, petitions start, lawyers looked for, and advocacy groups form. And apologies are always made, unless that person was the reason for the attack to happen. Are you this daft?

Another point of proof:

Diesel, BC area allegedly bit a girl- Petitions were started, a advocacy group formed, lawyers obtained. Owner lost his dog, the dog was rehomed out of the BC area. REHOMED not put to death, then again we don't know because of the judges ruling, stating that Diesel's information be kept PRIVATE from anyone involved with the advocacy group, his ex owner, which included the lawyer. So again EVIE your statement is flawed.




Another case in point- Chum and Champ:

This case made headlines, Chum and Champ - NEWFOUNDLANDS not pit bulls by the way. Accused of attacking a Jack russell terrier by a spiteful woman. Petitions were made, and an advocacy group created, a lawyer obtained - REBEKA BREDER. Chum declared Dangerous while Champ was taken away from the Mansea family. Chum spent about 2 to 3 years in the SPCA pound. Until finally she was freed, only to pass away from complications of "Cancer".

Again Evie your statement is FLAWED.

The only reason "SOME" Victims are blamed because they provoked the dogs into attacking, or they made the dog feel threatened. 

Those who were attacked without provocation have been apologized too, and sympathy for them is always stated, along with which the owner is blamed for irresponsibility. If the owner puts the dog down because of what happened, instead of rehoming the dog into a better environment for training and socializing than that owner TRULY did not give a shit about their dog. Again Evie your statements are flawed.

This is our last Statement to you Evie- you have a lot of growing up to do, and a lot of education to learn. Get off the comp box and read some books, instead of biased pit hating blogs, such as Maultalk, Dogsbite, and Pitbull holocaust since those are your true reliable, reputable, credible resources -.-

Why Compromises Are Needed

I think throughout all the years of fighting BSL, we forgot how to compromise and forgot how our dogs are really in danger. Some wish for no compromises yet forget how difficult it is to convince people in government seats.

As per say what happened in Westwego with Villa and Green, they came to a compromise and people have been twisting Villa's words. People really do not understand how debates, arguments and compromises work then, now do they?

Do people not understand, if there wasn't a compromise the BSL would have passed, All Pit bull owners would of had to give up their dog. How is that fair to them? Why would you not support Villa, a PIT BULL RESCUE. She doesn't support BSL, she had to do what she had to do. And Instead of blatantly taken sides instead of ASKING what was said in the meeting between Villa and Green, people automatically jumped on board the HATE wagon once again.

Villa has done more good than anyone could possibly imagine, I think it's time to take a step back and look at all the options and look at what she was really trying to do.

I'm not taken sides, I don't support BSL, but I do understand that these compromises will be difficult for many. Since many cannot afford "Insurance" and many Insurance companies refuse to cover Pit type dogs.

Yet take it into consideration, that there are other options when it comes to insurance, such as the 24PetWatch, who offers insurance to Pit Type Dog owners.http://www.24petwatch.com/

Truthfully all dog owners should have insurance for their dogs, in case of an accident.

Compromises are needed, if we want to win against BSL. And no making compromises doesn't mean defeat, doesn't mean that they will take a yard or inch against us Anti-BSL advocates, it means we are all going in the right direction.

As I have stated before, nothing has been set in motion yet. Nothing will be set in motion until everything has been voted upon. Do I think there should have been other options in this compromise, Yes, as do we all.

Will I stand behind people who protest against Villa, No I will not and neither will my team.

One must understand without compromises, dog owners automatically volunteer their dogs to the BSL. Dog owners who don't compromise are willing to see their dogs taken away, put in a shelter and straight to needle. Compromises are what get us to keep our DOGS, our FAMILY.

And if advocates and dog owners can't see between that grey line, then we are truly without hope of ever winning against BSL.

IN REGARDS TO THE WESTWEGO PIT BULL ORDINANCE - This is in part, the email that we sent to Councilman Glenn Green. As you can plainly see, there is nothing here that says we support BSL. What so many are doing is twisting my words of "showing support" as in we were supportive of the fact that he removed the BAN ordinance and was willing to meet halfway with rules such as spay/neuter, etc. providing it applied to all dogs. Again, in part this is the email that was sent......

If this ordinance is specifically for the Pit Bull breed, then the "bad guys" will get rid of their dogs to avoid any fines, violations and trouble from the law. They will then move on to a different breed. Right now the next most popular breed is the Cane Corso Mastiff. We're seeing ALOT of them in the area now. They're quickly becoming the next breed of choice for these "bad guys". So what then? We will have to create a Mastiff Ordinance? Or a Rottweiler Ordinance? And the list goes on. So what I propose is you put forth what Los Angeles did. and that's create these rules for all dogs. Why single out one breed? Why not make it safe for all dog owners and their dogs and the neighbors, etc? There is no reason that ANY dog should have to live on a chain or remain un-altered to create more unwanted puppies. Why not make it so that these ordinances come into effect so that animal control and law enforcement and rescuers have some leverage against owners who treat their dogs horribly?

So I'm sure you're getting bombarded with all sorts of ideas but I want to assure you that we are a group of level headed people that are here to assist you with anything you need to help create a safe and happy environment for the people of Westwego and their dogs.

Now where on earth does it say they support BSL? 

Getting Green to accept that there be an ALL DOG law is somehow supporting BSL? Getting your pets spayed and neutered is supporting BSL? Far as I knew it was a responsible thing to do to get your dog of any breed spayed and neutered if you were not a registered breeder. Far as I knew obtaining insurance for all dog breeds was also responsible dog ownership. Yet for some reason someone has to TWIST WORDS in order to make it look bad.

Keep thinking with this mentality and all dog owners will wind up without any pets,companions and family. I agree with these laws because it is not targeting a SPECIFIC breed, it is an "ALL DOG LAW" and it supports "RESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP".

If people aren't for "Responsible Ownership", than what does that say for us as advocates? We're doomed to lose our pets.

RadioNOW 100.9 - Public Call Out

Many dog owners are fuming after a radio show went on air to make a "prank call" to an unknowing citizen. Although some prank calls are hilarious, this one in particular was offensive. Voices For The Breeds and Anti Dogfighting Campaign have tried with great patience, to obtain a public apology.

Yet it seems as though they refuse to do the right thing, by making that apology. On top of not making that public apology they have removed several comments asking for the public apology. These comments included facts and truths about the bully breeds and pit fighting.

One in particular comment they have removed from their facebook page, was the one from the founder of the Anti-Dogfighting campaign.

How could people who should be promoting an awareness of a very serious 
issue as dog fighting make a "prank" about it. I am the founder of the 
The Anti-DogFighting Campaign and we devote our lives to fighting 
against these issues and to hear that you would prank about such issues 
is sick. Maybe you should go on an investigation with us and see what 
it's like to have to save one or more of these victims from these 
places. Look in their faces and hear their pain and look at their scars
that they have to live with the rest of their lives. This is NOT a 
joking matter nor should it EVER be a "prank". It's people like you who
help these fighters continue on their torture of these animals. 
Carmen, you should publicly apologize for doing a prank like this. 
My campaign is a worldwide campaign and I see this issue from one end 
of the crazy earth to the other. When I have to rescue these animals 
from their torture, and listen to their cries because the wounds are so 
overwhelming, and to see the forgiveness they try to have at the time they are 
rescued by a wag of the tail, all the rehab they have to have and 
medical care for all the injuries,....and to see it on a daily 
basis...yes I do take offense to things like this and I do take a stand 
against anyone who would think that something like this is to joke 
about. So I do hope that they understand the views from the 
Anti-DogFighting Campaign as well. We will always do all we have to do 
to protect these animals at all costs.

Tell the VICTIMS that dog fighting is something to joke/prank about. Rather
than joking and pranking about horrendous issues of dog fighting...try 
supporting those of us who battle the issue daily and promote awareness 
that this issue is out there and encourage people to report dog

Not only did this radio show add onto the bad rap of the bully breeds, yet it also made all possible dog owners look like a fool, or should I say irresponsible. Carmen was stereotyping while she made the prank phone call and obviously the victim of this prank call wasn't too happy about this situation either.

There is also another factor, people that follow this radio show seem to be desensitized by the reality of this horrible situation.

As I have stated before all dog owners not just bully breed owners are fuming at the Prank Call Radio show. Abuse is never a laughing matter, neither is dogfighting.

Lighten, ease up? We refuse too, because this has become a serious matter. We see this abuse everyday, we work on cases with the HSUS to fight against Dogfighting. We work with authorities to lock these dog fighters up. We speak with truth and facts to defend our bully breeds and all dogs. This stereotypical media persona's can do so much damage when they make shows like the one Kyle & Rachel has done.

All of us will stand united against RadioNow 100.9 until they make a public apology or we will do it the hard way, and make a petition to have them publicly apologize and remove the person who is either Carmen or Carmen herself.

Dog Fighting Is An Epidemic

Dog Fighting- A Billion Dollar Underground Industry in the USA and Some Part of the UK.

In all parts of the USA Dog fighting is illegal, In some parts over seas Dog fighting is not. Dog fighting has become an epidemic. Dog Fighting creates Danger not only for the dogs, but for people. Dog Fighters have become breeders, which has been leading to selective breeding and the sales of puppies, which some wind up at shelters. Due to this problem as My team and I have explained before, these puppies become aggressive at a later age, and not all of these dogs are Pit bull types.

We must have an understanding here, that it is not okay to fight ANY dog breeds for any reason, not even for money or fame. Putting dogs up against one another is wrong, these dogs never chose to do it, they don't like fighting as some have stated. These dogs would rather be by our side, taking walks, playing fetch or going camping with us.

These dogs would rather help us with our everyday needs, such as being our seeing eye dogs, farm hands, or helping those who cannot move their limbs. They would rather be police dogs, or therapeutic dogs.

It is my understanding that recently there has been a dog fighting bust in Montgomery TX, Humble TX, Philadelphia Pa, Germantown Pa and many other areas...

This issue has been made illegal for a reason, and apparently these people can't get it into their heads that this is ANIMAL CRUELTY. Forcing dogs to fight to the death, is not how you treat your beloved animal companion.

This EPIDEMIC, has become more and more abundant with this passing year, and it must come to a stop.

Facebook and Craigslist has been a dog fighters paradise to advertise their fighting dogs and or puppies and or were an event will be held. People have not been reporting this to authorities, instead they report it to Craigs and Facebook which in turn DOES NOTHING.

Report it to Authorities, make them look into this issue that has been getting out of hand, These people must be locked up to prevent this outrageous abuse of these dogs. If the authorities don't listen to you than REPORT it to those WHO WILL. That being Us and our friends at the Anti Dog Fighting Campaign.

Complex Explanation: Dogs

Recently I wrote an article with two other people, H.L and M.D. We were going over the fine points of game dogs, the behavioral and genetic traits. Some of what we have written was a little confusing for many of our advocate friends. Truthfully, most of it was a little confusing to me as well, until H.L explained the complex structure.

Along with a recent conversation, I had with a very lovely person who has been fighting 

BSL in the UK area, I concur with him.

Game Dogs are a controversial area of conversation, there has been debate, back and forth with this issue. Is it all genetics or is it training and the people behind the dog?

All three honestly, depending on the situation, the person, and the genetics of a dog.

One must remember that there is Selective breeding, Selective training, and the attitude/mentality of a person.

While studying for the past 3 months going on 4, I concluded that there is a new generation of dog fighters, whom really do not care about the dog’s aggression toward people. What they mainly care for, are if the dogs can last the round, and make the most money for them.

They call this a sport this is not a sport. It is barbaric treatment of a voiceless sentient being. Who wants nothing more than to be all it can be for its owner. That determination will never wither, no matter how many times they selectively breed their dog.

We as humans must push pass this petty greed, and look toward an actual sport we can participate in with our four legged companions. We as humans must learn to respect our dogs and animals, period. We as humans were put here to protect our animal brethren, not put here to destroy what was created.

In addition, even this is a controversial debate; many believe we were not put here to be guardians for these animals. If that is the case, then why do we exist? Humans are a very complex being, many different personalities, ways of thinking and living.

Dog fighters are not that complex anymore, we as advocates can see why they do what they do; Money fame, reputation or should I say street credit?

Anti animal advocates, such as the anti pit bull advocates, only go by half-truths from a person who is not a dog expert, her statistics are flawed, and they are from a 2009-2010 documentation of a flawed test, which was tossed out. She does not factor in the possibilities of dog fighters, or animal abusers, or any other twisted individuals who abuse their companion. She merely blames all dogs, based on breed and flawed news reports that target a specific breed, without knowing what that breed really is.

Because of her, BSL has been pushing forward in most states and countries overseas. Majority of animal control facilities have also been using her methods of determining if a dog is aggressive, basing everything on her stolen statistics.

The truth is, with the seriousness these dog fighter breeders handling these dogs improperly it has led to human aggression. Most of the time the traits do not show until the dog is about 2 to 3 years of age. When this happens, people wind up seriously injured and by that time, the dog can be either with a rescuer or with the dog fighter.

Yet, we all know if the dog bites the fighter/handler, they put them to death. This leads the breeders to breed again and start over. Which is also why a shelter is overfilled with specific dog breeds, and they too wind up put to death. I do not use the word euthanized or sleep this is murder plain and simple.

In certain situations, dogs that experience aggression can be in most cases rehabilitated, depending on their training and what traits been bred into said dog.

Not all fighting dogs are game dogs, most are dogs that became dog napped, bought, or picked up off the streets. In these cases, if this is the case they have the chance of rehabilitation. Example- Mike Vic’s dogs, I use this example because of the fact that these dogs of his are now in proper homes and many are service-trained dogs.

There is so much debate out there between issues that it is colliding together making a mess of controversy.

One advocate states it is how the dogs are raised. This statement is false, as I have stated before, raising and training your dogs are two separate aspects.

Raising- Is the time you spend with your dog, the food you feed your dog, the trips to the vets, parks etc.
Training- is teaching them skills they need to learn, such as doing their business outside, sitting, leave it, fetch, stay, lay down etc commands which equals control.

Raising a dog by spending time with your dog, forms a bond, this allows for the training.

There is no such breed as a “Pit Bull”. True and false, the only true pit bull is the American Pit Bull Terrier or APBT for sort. Yet this Pit Bull title has become a label for today’s Staffordshire terriers, Boxers, Bull Dogs and so on. It is a Label created by the BSL, UKC, and the AKC. This labeled has been used wrongly with Animal Control officers, because they have this sheet with check boxes next to descriptions of what a Pit Bull Type looks like. Oval shaped eyes, block like head, medium built, and so on. Approximately, several bull and terrier breeds match that description.

Blame Game:

The blame lies on the dog fighters, and the irresponsible people not training their dogs properly. All dogs can be a possible danger, in the inappropriate hands. Yet, dogs can be an amazing miracle in the proper hands.

Proper Precautions:

All dog owners should take precautions when out walking their dog. Animal Aggressive, dogs should wear a muzzle, and always be on a lead. Skittish or Fear biting dogs should always be by your side on a lead, with a Yellow or White ribbon on the leash or lead for accessible view, while wearing a dog vest stating, “I’m in training or being rehabilitated.” All dog owners should take a training course with their dog, learning body language. To learn the signs that could stop an attack from happening, to know when your dog is irritated and or scared or unsure of a person. All dog owners should be aware of the surroundings and be aware of people that may be walking up from behind them. This goes for dog walkers and or dog sitters as well. This will save the dog from being spooked, and prevent any agitated attack and prevent a dog from being put to death, because of first time bite offence...

Bettering ourselves by learning these aspects, such as dog body language and vocal commands will help us keep our dogs safe. This will help us also educate those who advocate against our breeds, who think our breed of dogs are nothing but steroid induced monsters, or that only low poverty, gang members and so on, own these certain breeds.

The people, who advocate against our dogs, never had the opportunity in owning one of these delightful breeds for themselves, so they do not know the joy of having a great breed in their life.

Taking and learning these precautions will put an end to this discrimination and stereotyping. 

We either become part of the solution or continue to be part of the problem… My team and I choose to be part of the Solution and educate the public or at least do our best at spreading the word of truth and education...

Game Dogs And You

What are game dogs?

In this article, We will be explaining the different types of Game Dogs.
Our Views and Opinions, We are not targeting any specific breed of dog.

First, I would like to get into the Aggressive Behavioral discussion, based on the work of Grigorenko & Sternberg.

The field of psychology has been greatly influenced by the study of genetics. Decades of research has demonstrated that both genetic and environmental factors play a role in a variety of behaviors in humans and animals (e.g. Grigorenko & Sternberg, 2003). The genetic basis of aggression, however, remains misunderstood. Aggression is a multi-dimensional concept, but it can be generally defined as behavior that inflicts pain or harm on another.

Genetic-developmental theory states that individual differences in a continuous phenotype result from the action of a large number of genes, each exerting an effect that works with environmental factors to produce the trait. Because this type of trait is influenced by multiple factors, it is more complex and difficult to study than a simple Mundelein trait (one gene for one phenotype)
This is where selective breeding comes in to play, for some.

Selective breeding

The heritability of aggression has been observed in many animal strains after noting that some strains of birds, dogs, fish, and mice seem to be more aggressive than other strains. Selective breeding has demonstrated that it is possible to select for genes that lead more to aggressive behavior in animals. Selective breeding examples also allow researchers to understand the importance of developmental timing for genetic influences on aggressive behavior. A study done in 1983 (Cairns) produced both highly aggressive male and female strains of mice dependent on certain developmental periods to have this more aggressive behavior expressed. These mice were not observed to be more aggressive during the early and later stages of their lives but during certain periods (in their middle-age period) were more violent and aggressive in their attacks on other mice. Selective breeding is a quick way to select for specific traits with the effects of selection being seen within a few generations of breeding. These characteristics make selective breeding an important tool in the study of genetics and aggressive behavior.

However, for dog fighter breeders, this selective breeding makes this ability for them to make the perfect aggressive dog fighting dog. Which is why they use certain breeds for this to be made possible, these dogs are classified as the gripping class. 

The first type of game dogs that we are all familiar with is the dog fighting type. Yet, how much do you really know about dog fighting dogs? Only what the media and the BSL tell you, which are the Pit bull type dogs. This is FALSE, since there is more than one gripping type of breed. Dog fighting game dogs can be any breed that is classified as a gripper. This stems from the Pit bull type dogs, to Rottweiler’s, Dobermans, German Shepherds, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux, just to name a few.

Let us not think about their breed now, but focus on what has been bred into them, by the dog fighting breeders. This is the following; aggression, agility, stamina; these traits mark the ability to continue even when exhausted.

Dog fighting game dogs can show no signs of aggression, until it is too late. They can snap without notice, they are usually only animal aggressive but have been known to be both human and animal aggressive.
Most common question I have received, can these dogs be rehabilitated? When it comes to dog fighting game dogs; no, they cannot be rehabilitated, if they were selectively bred for this type of aggression. This is heartbreaking and not their fault. The blame lies on the people who have bred them to be aggressive and vicious.

Why is it, that Media always portrays pit bulls as vicious or aggressive?

A majority of dog fighters breed pit bull type dogs or American Pit bull terriers to be accurate as “Game Dogs”. A majority of these dogs portrayed in the media are not APBT’S or “Game Dogs”. A majority of these dogs are mixed breeds, which have been giving the misfortune in having a bad life and have been trained to attack those not related to family. You will never see dog fighting game dogs on the news, yet you always hear that a dog has been euthanized after a dog-fighting bust.

I am strictly talking about GAME DOGS, not a breed. So please do not confuse what I am saying to be targeting a specific breed, when I am not targeting any breed. 

Game Dogs are a real problem for us as dog owners, due to the issue of these dogs not being able to be distinguished from house pet and game dog.

Game dogs, as I have stated rarely show signs of aggression, and can snap without provocation. Yet there have been rumors floating around on Pit bull forums that Dog fighters have been drugging their dogs up with RC Horse vitamins.  They do this for 10 days, and stop treatment, which supposedly causes the dog to run hot (irritated, aggressive, withdrawal symptoms.)

How does one go about breeding these Game Dogs?

I am not a genetics professional, yet my guesses are from what I have read, on Genetics and Eugenic books. 
They breed their winning dogs, which have shown the most aggression in the keep or pit fighting area, keeping the bloodline with the most aggressive traits, which is what scientists and Eugenics programs have been breeding out of all dogs, mice, cats, etc.

With this happening, the breeders over breed and tend to dump dogs that do not meet the requirements, either at the shelter or they kill and dump the bodies.

The ones that land up at the shelters are just puppies, to 1yr olds, with no signs of aggression traits yet, which leads them to pass the temperament test. This leads to adoption, which leads to about 1 or 2 years later showing these aggressive traits… This then leads to people attacked in their own homes or on the street if this said dog gets loose...

So whom do we really blame for this atrocity, we blame Dog fighters that breed dogs for fighting. These people cause our problem; these people use these dogs in the pit area to make money. This business is a billion dollar profit, which causes harm not only to the dogs but also to people who adopt dogs that are not suitable for adoption, because they passed a temperament test.

Yes, even the temperament test is flawed along with the BITE STATISTIC test.

What about the dogs that are not purely Game Dogs?
Most of those dogs, do not survive the pit area, and become disposed of. Those that survive go on to another fight and continue until they lose and die, or retired to become a breeding partner dog.

Hunting Dogs- Game Dogs
These are not dangerous dogs; these dogs purpose as in training wise are to track down animals and take them down, or retrieve out of watery, bush type areas. They are house pets primarily. No hunter will keep human or animal aggressive dogs in or near their pack and family.
Their dogs are bred for intelligence, agility, and strength not aggression, sometimes referred to as Game dogs because of their built and agility trait.

We know hunting dogs as, Retrievers, Hounds (Bassett, Blood, Fox, and Cur). Even the Terrier class which includes, Staffordshire Terriers, Pit Terriers, so as for my statements before about the “Pit type dogs” they were originally bred for hunting (working class).

Competition (Dog Olympics) - Game Dogs
Again these types of game dogs, not aggressive in anyway. They are trained to pull weights, jump and tug on ropes, swim down in water to obtain weights, run for long distances, do obstacle courses in a time limit setting, Catching Frisbee’s, balls, batons and so on.
Their traits are Agility, speed, strength and intelligence for puzzle solving which they can do.
Some obstacle courses have puzzles to solve to get a treat at the end, but again there is a set time limit. I have witness many of these sports, games for these types of dogs, I am partial to those who can catch the Frisbees’ in mid air. I find that very awesome, because it shows their agile and gracefulness.

Most of these competitions I find cruel for the dog, yet it gives the dogs something to do, to keep them active and healthy. I do not agree with the weight pulls or underwater diving, due to the fact that they can get hurt doing those events.

However, again, they are not aggressive; they are primarily house pets/family members. Breeds in this group are Pit type dogs, Retrievers’, Dobermans, and Shepherds and so on.

As per recent conversation I am adding this little bit of information on why, I say Game fighting dogs are more aggressive and out of control, it is because of the New generation of dog fighting breeders, who lack control, and skill to train and breed these dogs properly. The older generation of dog fighters were more astute and cared whether or not the dog was human aggressive. As of today's dog fighters, they do not, all they care for is the money.

For the past 3 months, I have found that Game dogs used for fighting have abnormality in their muscle structure (more bulky, than what their original breed was designed for). Muscle structure is supposed to be sleek, coat shiny, in proportion with their head mass, not bulging like game dogs have been looking.
More or Less this is how you can semi tell the difference between game dogs and house pets.


As I have explained the different types of game dogs, that I have studied for the past 3 months. I will say this, the dogs are not to blame it is the people, who use them for selfish purposes; which is dog fighting, and some athletic competition that is dangerous, that reward money if they win.

Dogs are the victims, Irresponsible people are the cause, and Advocates/Rescues/Activists are the solution. You are either the problem or Solution, which are you? Which will you be?

Will you join the fight to help save our dogs? On the other hand, will you be the problem that spreads the myth that all dogs are inherently dangerous?

It is your choice, yet if you were an animal lover, you would chose to help us fight the myths and rumors that surround the dogs that are being targeted.

Rest In Peace Our Dear Chum

It is with a heavy heart and sadden eyes, we report to the world that has shown support and love for Chum and Champ.... Chum has passed away peacefully last night in the arms and paws of her family and Champ her soul mate.

Many of us cannot believe the news, yet unfortunately it is true. She is now on that rainbow bridge back with her human mom Edith. May she always be remembered for how she touched our hearts, and left those brilliant paw prints and for what kind of fur kid she was. We love Chum, even though we never got a chance to meet her in person, just the pictures, the posts the stories. Made us feel close to her. We were part of the group that advocated for her freedom, even though her freedom was short lived, we know deep in our hearts, that she at the end, knew she was loved by all.

At this point and time everyone who was involved with the chum and champ groups will be taking a short break, to mourn the loss of a great fur kid (Chum).

As many of you know, it took two months for the CVRD to release only a portion of Chum’s medical records (none of Champ’s have been released to date). On April 12, 2013 I received an email from Rebeka Breder letting me know that the CVRD (Troy Desouza) had finally agreed to share some of Chum’s file including some x-rays. It took another week for the vet holding those documents to forward them to Chum’s new doctor on April 22, 2013. The x-rays caused the new vet to believe Chum may have been misdiagnosed for all of these months during her incarceration. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, Chum was taken to Can West in Vancouver with the intent of having new x-rays, an MRI, a CAT scan and new blood work etc… We were all relieved thinking that once the x-rays confirmed it was a cruciate injury, Chum would have her surgery and be home the next day.
The specialist who examined Chum was suspicious of the cruciate injury diagnoses. He had her x-rayed (without anesthetic to avoid complications). An hour later, the specialist confirmed our worst fears. Chum has bone cancer. The cancer has eaten through her leg bone and fractured it. He said in some cases they are able to amputate to save a dog’s life, but there was more bad news. Chum’s lungs are completely full of cancer. The specialist was flabbergasted that she is still walking/hobbling and couldn’t understand why she wasn’t coughing and struggling for breath. He has said Chum may have two weeks left to live. I was with Chum yesterday, and will see her again today. She is not the same dog that she was 9 days ago during my visit. Although she is now heavily medicated to alleviate her pain, Chum is labouring and I don’t believe she will be with us for more than a few days.
We are all devastated at this news. Chum has been put through so much cruelty this past year and to find out now that she has suffered with the pain of cancer for months and that none of the “three” vets hired by the CVRD found the cancer (or shared their findings if they did know) has added another layer of devastation to an already tragic story. When I think of how she almost died at the SPCA and all of the tests, needles, trial drugs, poking and prodding, and never once did she whimper or complain. I am in awe of Chum’s courage and her gentle nature. I honestly don’t know another dog who would have tolerated so much at the hands of humans without reacting. Everyone who took part in falsely accusing Chum of attacking a dog, all the way down the line to the SPCA and their vet who allowed both dogs to be released in October 2012 with multiple infections, to the Animal Control Officer/Bylaw Officers, the CVRD and the Judge himself should be made aware of the absolute inhumanity of what they have done to both of these dogs. If I were any one of them I would hang my head in shame. None of them are deserving of the job titles they hold or the paycheques they take home.
We all fought for more than a year to save Chum and Champ, first from being destroyed and later, from being sent to inappropriate placements (Spider Lake and the Saskatchewan breeder). On February 22, 2013 when Chum was finally released and reunited with Champ, they were both rehomed with a member of my family. We were so happy to know that both of these Gentle Giants had survived this horrible ordeal and that they would remain in our family to live out their days together in good health and happiness. And now, because the system doesn’t require the CVRD or the SPCA (or their hired vets apparently) to provide adequate health care for dogs who are seized and impounded, Chum has suffered excruciating physical pain without relief. There are no words to express our grief and anger over Chum’s continued suffering and the knowledge that she will be taken from us so quickly.
Chum will soon be at peace and Section 49 will have claimed another victim. The bloated machine of local government spouting public safety will no longer be able to hurt her. Champ will again have to learn to live without his lifetime mate…this time forever. Chum and Champ’s tragedy has cost two lives, Edith’s and very soon Chum’s. I have always erred on the side of asking all of you to write in a respectful and courteous manner but now I am asking you to put your anger and sadness into words. Please contact the media, the CVRD, BC Tourism and the Provincial Government and anyone you may know in BC, to protest against what has happened to these dogs with the intent of preventing it from ever happening again.

We love you Chum and we continue the battle to save all the innocent dogs in the BC area. No one will be silent, no one will give up, we will continue on in your name and other's who were taken away.
